Jammed Together Texas Style
- Classic! A *must-have* for the Stevie enthusiast. What the list did not mention here is that this is SRV & DT with *Albert King*! Albert, besides being one of the absolute greatest, is such a gem on this recording. To hear Albert and Stevie talking between cuts is enough to bring a tear to the eye, and a warmness to the soul.
- Quality comparable to a studio release or an ‘official live album. Has good mixing, no tape hiss, good production.
- If you like the roots of SRV...Jammed Together with Albert King is good.
- Just a warning to add to the bootlist duplicate title: Stevie Ray Vaughan Triple Trouble With AlbertKing and Buddy Guy on the [Smokin Cactus sc003] label. Same as Jammed Togther and Let it Happen except there are three additional tracks on the end with Buddy Guy
Jammin With The Boys
- While Stevies contibution to the first two songs in this release
are questionable, they are not the mainstay of this disc. The almost 55
min. jam with Albert Collins and Jeff Healey is a "MUST HAVE" for any
serious SRV collector. The audio quality is fantastic, being direct from
the soundboard. Even though Stevie is only 1/3 of this jamming trio, his
contributions are more than just fleeting. When he steps out, you know
it! Albert Collins is in grand form and Jeff Healley pulls his own with
the other two blues giants. It's an awesome jam and well worth it. I
think they should have released just this single track on the CD,
instead of including the other two questionable tracks. I've bought many
a boot CD that was under the 55 min mark that I was more than happy with
due to content. If you have a chance to check this one out, do it! It's
has a great blues jam from three great blues players. Of course we know
who's best!
Darryl Deyerle
- I would not recomend it. It does have a 55 min free jam with Albert Collins but it does not justify
paying the money for it.
Jiving Jam
- It is a varied performance with famous musicians. Sound quality is very good.
- Track info:
- Champagne And Reefer (w/Buddy Guy)
- Not sure, but Im quite sure this is from the Jam at Buddys club in Chicago...the disc is called Birthday Jam, or See you Later, or Its Still Called The Blues from Chicago, 7/30/89.
- Oreo Cookie Blues (w/Lonnie Mack)
Wham (w/Lonnie Mack)
- These is probably from the CD called Mr. Clean or ? (cant remember the other one) although
Mr. Clean does not include Wham. This show is Fox Theater, 12/31/86.
- Stormy Monday Blues (w/Albert King)
Matchbox Blues (w/Albert King)
Ask Me No Questions (w/Albert King)
- From In Session TV Show with Albert King. CDs are called Jammed Together, Texas Style and Let It Happen. Performance is from 11/83.
- Wham (w/Jeff Beck)
Texas Blues (w/Jeff Beck)
Last Call (w/Jeff Beck)
Jeffs Boogie (w/Jeff Beck)
- From the CD called Youll Be Mine Performance is Honolulu, 3/9/84.
- Dont Stop By The Creek, Son (w/Johnny Copeland)
- From the CD called Live in Montreaux...Montreaux Jazz Festival, Montreaux, Switzerland, 7/15/85.
- Oreo Cookie Blues : Acoustic (w/Lonnie Mack)
- Dont know for sure, but I bet that this is an audio dub from a video of SRV and Lonnie Mack on the TV Show called American Caravan. I am not aware that an acoustic Oreo Cookie Blues is on any other CD. If you like this song, it may be worth the price of the disc, cause SRV and Lonnie play an AWESOME rendition of this song. SRV plays some acoustic slide, if this is the same version that Im thinking of.
- Dirty Pool : Acoustic Solo
- I dont know where this is from, but it sounds interesting...
The Last Child
- excellent quality radio broadcast.
Last Farewell
Important information about Colorado/New Mexico concerts and the supposed Auditorium Shores concert.
- CD which was recorded during the ‘In Step tour 1990 somewhere in the USA. Voodoo Chile (s.r.) is about 11 min. long; it drags you just way up into the next lunar orbit, I mean it gets really deep, especially at 4:30 min !! No more to say about this MUST for every Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. The sound is quite good, though it maintains to be ‘just a private (I suppose) live recording that contains no multi-track sources.
- The Last Farewell is great.
- Not too bad either but it is a live recording
- Also very good are Last Farewell 1990 as someone else mentioned, and Montreal 1989. Both of these CDs are live cuts as well.
- excellent sound quality.
- Last Farewell, One of the Last, Scuttle Buttin, and every other boot CD Ive seen claiming to
be either the last show or Austin, May 4 1990 are ALL THE SAME SHOW. They are all a
combination of the Tingley Arena and Denver McNichols arena shows. These shows took place
one day apart. Parts of each were broadcast together as if one show by the Westwood One radio
show. There are tapes out there of the last show, the Tingley show and the Denver show. These
CDs are ALL copies of this radio broadcast.
- At least 3 boots, and probably more, incorrectly identify the Colorado/New Mexico show as
Auditorium Shores, so there has been confusion over this show.
On the different boot cds of the C/NM show, there are different tracks. Each omits one and
has another and/or print the set list in different order so that the discs do not appear to be the
same show, but they are. Scuttle Buttin, Last Farewell, and Let me Love You Baby are examples.
When the Colorado/New Mexico boots came out, there were posts that implied these were
complete soundboard recordings of both shows. However (correct me if I am wrong) they were
not. I had the set lists emailed to me and they were the same old C/NM combination. The New
Mexico show was quite long and would take 2 CDs by itself. The Colorado show was not as
long, but still would not fit on a single CD. The audience recordings of both shows are not
outstanding. So, any quality recording is likely to be from one of these boots or the original fm
broadcast.
- Discs of the Westwood one 89 broadcast are numerous, I recommend Last Farewell or
Let me Love you Baby for sound quality compared to the others.
- The sound quality is okay (but what boots isnt), but the playing was great!
- very good
- Discs of the Westwood one 89 broadcast are numerous, I recommend Last Farewell or
Let me Love you Baby for sound quality compared to the others.
The Last Live Show
- This discussion has not been totally resolved yet. The first track on The Last Live Show,
although listed as Testify is not Testify, In The Open, or Tore Down. As was mentioned
previously, this instrumental is also listed as Stevies Boogie on other boot titles. It is an old
Albert Collins tune called Collins Shuffle.
The subject of The Last Show keeps coming up, but SRV and DT did Goin Down during the last show at Alpine Valley. This song smokes and for anyone lucky engough to have seen SRV the last night, Im sure that his guitar was smoking during this song. It was the fourth to last song SRV played in his life, and it is worth a major portion of the $40 plus price of this two disk set, IMHO.
Let It Happen
- Rating: ***, Length: 45 min
- Just a warning to add to the bootlist duplicate title: Stevie Ray Vaughan Triple Trouble With AlbertKing and Buddy Guy on the [Smokin Cactus sc003] label. Same as Jammed Togther and Let it Happen except there are three additional tracks on the end with Buddy Guy
Let Me Love You Baby
Important information about Colorado/New Mexico concerts and the supposed Auditorium Shores concert.
- Must haves in one version or another.
- Discs of the Westwood one 89 broadcast are numerous, I recommend Last Farewell or Let me Love you Baby for sound quality compared to the others.
- a killer CD; an awesome boot (killer version of Let Me Love You Baby (Buddy Guy)
A *very* good concert. I have the CD - its subtitled Stevie Ray Vaughan Seattle 1985
Live (featuring Bonnie Raitt). One of my favorites.
- At least 3 boots, and probably more, incorrectly identify the Colorado/New Mexico show as
Auditorium Shores, so there has been confusion over this show.
On the different boot cds of the C/NM show, there are different tracks. Each omits one and

Life Without You
Important information about how this CD set relates to the actual Soul to Soul recording sessions and the other boot CDs that comprise parts of those sessions has been provided by Steve Toney, a member of the Texas Flood.
- The discs are very special. The set is titled Life Without You - The Soul to Soul Sessions Vol. 1-4 [Blue Knight Records, BKR 017,18,19,20]. LWY-TStSS is 59 tracks of superb, unreleased studio recordings [New York, 1985].This set is probably not for the casual SRV listener. However, if you ever want to take a time trip and hear what it was like to be in the studio with Stevie, Tommy, Chris and Richard [sound engineer], then these discs are the ticket.
- Quality comparable to a studio release or an ‘official live album. Has good mixing, no tape hiss, good production.
- Soul To Soul sessions boots. Its 3 CDs of just about everything that was recorded for that album, so (obviously) everything is from the studio. They recorded all of their rehearsals, so theres a lot of messing around with different songs, talking, etc. The version Im Leaving You is complete as far as I can remember. They mess around with Give Me Back My Wig for a long time, but it sounds like Stevie didnt know the words and they never get a complete take. After one of the failed attempts he says hes gonna have to call Johnny Winter and ask him for the words.
- Its interesting to listen to everything thats on these boots. Its fun to hear someone like Stevie Ray mess up -- he IS human! There are some great (and funny) chokes. Theres also a lot of brilliant playing (to be expected). Some of the stuff thats on The Sky Is Crying is from these sessions. The original take of The Sky Is Crying is there -- the vocals must have been overdubbed later, but the guitar parts are from this take. Chitlins Con Carne is also from these sessions, only it was cut and edited for The Sky Is Crying. Theres some cool stuff that was cut out. Stevie also messes around with Riviera Paradise, before it was known as Riviera Paradise. There are also a bunch of jams on Boot Hill, even though the version on The Sky Is Crying is from the In Step sessions. Cool stuff.
- On the CDs Life Without You (soul II soul sessions) Vol.4 are 3 tracks from the radio show Rockline. That is great stuff also, especially the untitled blues jam.
- Most tracks suffer from low-level background noise and some include fade out/in of instruments/vocals, otherwise sound quality varies from good to excellent.
- I cant get past the first track without believing that Jimis spirit really DID inhabit Stevie. Awesome.
- excellent quality
- I have these four CDs as well and agree totally. They are very very good quality. Well worth it to
have. If you see any of em pick them up.
- Four INCREDIBLE jam packed disks of Soul to Soul studio outakes!!!
- taken from the studio tapes of the Soul to Soul sessions in New York. They have several alternate takes of songs from the album as well as Stevie noodling around on the guitar (a real treat) and various other gems (Hangnails n Boogers- youve just got to hear it yourself, I cant explain that one and do it justice).
- Excellent quality, distilled version of the Soul to Soul sessions
- Some great alternate takes and mixes of Boot Hill.
Little Lover Boy
-
This is probably one of the clearest bootlegs recordings, I have ever heard in over 30 years of collecting Roio’s I have yet to find one with a better sound quality. I purchased the original from a small store in my hometown for $10 and boy was I ever happy. Even though this is a single disc it catches Stevie at his blazing best each track sounds brand new and straight from the heart. Not a bad note anywhere on this disc, the foldout opens into the shape of a cross. Which is weird considering what was to pass. If you get a chance hunt this one down.

Live At LOlympia
Live At Pier 84
- Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble featuring Buddy Guy recorded live at the Pier 84, NYC,
May 23d, 1983.
- Excellent, but the recording appears to have come off a vocal mike and there is lots of crowd
noise--not too distracting, though. One good fold out picture of SRV and Buddy Guy as the liner
notes.
- Pier 83 (sic) is a great version of Rude Mood, but then I reckon theyre all great! Some days the fast aggro versions make my hair stand up on end , some days the acoustic version (MTV) does it for me but a real fave is the early version: on the 1979 First Thunder boot. This country/rockabilly laid back version has the joy of life written all over it ; guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Stevie mustve got a real buzz playing this one in the clubs.
Live In Japan
- Quality comparable to a studio release or an ‘official live album. Has good mixing, no tape hiss, good production.
Live In Montreux
- There are 3 SRV live at Montreux Jazz Festival CDs; one from 1982 and two from 1985. All 3 are excellent quality soundboard recordings.
- CD of SRV at Montreux 1982: The sound quality on the CD is 100 times better than the video anyway. Stevies response during the whole gig resulted in one of his meanest and tuffest sets ever!
- Excellent sound quality
- excellent quality soundboard recordings.
- prime SRV. The sound quality on both is excellent LIM is a little brighter than on Cold Shot [Discurios].
- To me, using a slide is one area that SRV was phenomenal at, but didnt do hardly at all. SRV does Gimme Back My Wig and its awesome and intense.
Live In The Studio
Live Performances
Live! - "Rockpalast"
- Things That I Used to Do, is a very good version.
Live USA [Imtrat, imt 900.041]
- Favourite Boot = Live USA 84-89.
- Everything from Pride & Joy" to Crossfire. The quality on this disc is fantastic.
Live USA [Imtrat, imm 40.90147]

Live Vol. 1
Look At Little Stevie
Looking At You
- The (sound) quality is very good.. The playing! What great concerts! Subtle, jazzy sometimes, excellent! Pure fun to listen to.
Lost In Austin 1989
Important information about Colorado/New Mexico concerts and the supposed Auditorium Shores concert.
- Sound quality not as good as other titles with same material, crowd noise sounds like its been altered since it noticeably fades in and out between songs.
